NYC Mayor Adams Spurned as Biden Ignores Need for U.S. Funds to Aid Big Apple Immigrants
Adams anticipated joining Biden-Harris' official speaking squad. Instead, N.Y. Gov. Kathy Hochul is picked for campaign surrogates from Empire State while Adams is cut.

Just how captured is President Joe Biden by the Progressive wing of the Democratic Party? And how much could the supposedly moderate president’s leftward tilt damage the 2024 Biden-Harris campaign for reëlection?
The Moderate Democrat advocates for a centrist approach to winning the 2024 presidential election for the Democrats. But sticking with the flawed and polarizing leftist ticket that Biden-Harris has become is a good way to lose next year.
This past week, Biden pointedly left New York City Mayor Eric Adams off the group of 50 stellar Democratspicked to stump nationally on behalf of Biden-Harris.
Tim Balk of the New York Daily News leads readers to conclude Biden is miffed (which may not be a strong-enough word) with Adams because hizzoner repeatedly and forcefully seeks U.S. funds to assist illegal immigrants flooding into the nation’s largest city.
Murmurs of the White House’s frustration at Adams’ frequent criticism of federal immigration policy began swirling long before March [writes Balk]. But the tenor of some of Adams’ criticisms has hardened this spring
Last month, the centrist Adams charged that the “national government has turned its back” on the city, which has welcomed waves of asylum seekers over the last year, straining city services.
“America deserves a plan, and the White House needs to give us that plan,” Adams told reporters at City Hall. “The president and the White House have failed New York City on this issue.”
So, the New York members on the Biden-Harris’ official speakers bureau are Gov. Kathy Hochul and U.S. Rep. Grace Meng of Queens. But the so-far fiercely loyal Big Apple mayor is shunned. Maybe Adams should ask for even more funds!
The next day, Mayor Adams, who knows the value of loyalty in tough political times, made peace in the headlines with President Biden, as shown below.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris cleave to the Progressives. Centrist moderates like Mayor Adams are left behind. Just another talking point for the Republican ticket to lay on Biden-Harris.
This is a stupid and ham-handed political move from Biden-Harris. It will hurt. Not that much nationally. But it will hurt efforts to move Biden-Harris into the center following their supposed renomination.
The center is the only place from which Democrats can win in 2024. Which is why The Moderate Democrat hopes for an alternative team to emerge to fight for nomination in the primary elections next year.

I have not discussed The Moderate Democrat’s unconventional perspective with him. Still, forgive my family pride for highlighting his headlines! This is Tim’s bio on the Daily News website:
